Before booking
Things to check before your stay, including what to bring, check-in, fees, cancellation rules, winter roads, children, pets, and smoking.
What should I bring for BBQ?
Please bring food, firewood or charcoal, and fire starters. Most standard equipment is prepared at each facility. Please check each facility page for details.
We provide salt and pepper, soy sauce, and cooking oil. Ice, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, kitchen paper, and rice cookers are not provided.
How do I check in?
Check-in is self check-in from 4:00 p.m. A key box is attached near the entrance. After booking or payment, we will send the key box number by message or email. Please take the key from the key box and enter the facility.

How do I check out?
Please lock the door, return the key to the key box, and leave the facility. Check-out is by 11:00 a.m.

For shopping, we recommend buying firewood, charcoal, and fire starters at DCM Karuizawa, vegetables at Kubo Farm direct sales shop, and meat at Asama Meat. Please note that Kubo Farm is closed on Wednesdays, and Asama Meat is closed on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays.
Do I need winter tires when coming by car?
From December to March, please use studless winter tires or carry tire chains. We also recommend checking a Kitakaruizawa live camera and the weather forecast around the facility before your trip.

Are there ski resorts nearby?
There are ski resorts about 30 to 40 minutes by car from the facilities. Please check road conditions on Google Maps or similar services before going out.

Can we use fireworks?
Handheld fireworks are allowed. Firecrackers, rocket fireworks, and other loud or dangerous fireworks are not allowed.
Are there any extra fees besides the displayed price?
No. We do not charge separate cleaning fees, heating fees, management fees, or handling fees. If equipment is damaged or heavily soiled due to guest responsibility, repair or cleaning costs may be charged.
When does the cancellation fee apply?
A full refund is available until 6 days before check-in. From 5 days before check-in, the booking is non-refundable. For fairness, date changes are also not accepted after the non-refundable period begins.
Can I change the number of guests after booking?
Guest number changes are accepted until 6 days before check-in. For official website bookings, please use the change link in the confirmation email with the title including the words reservation confirmed.
How are children charged?
Elementary school children and preschool children who use bedding are charged the same as adults. Up to two preschool children sleeping with adults are free of charge. From the third child, the adult rate applies.
Can I stay with pets?
Pets are strictly not allowed at any facility. If pets are brought in without permission, cleaning and deodorizing costs may be charged.
Is smoking allowed indoors?
All indoor areas are non-smoking. Please smoke outside only.

Where is the exact facility location?
The guide email sent after booking includes a Google Maps link for each facility. Address searches may show a slightly different location, so please use the facility name or the link in the guide email.

Can you explain how to light charcoal or firewood, or how to use the tent sauna?
The guide sent after booking includes videos about lighting charcoal, lighting firewood, and using the smoky grill, pizza oven, and tent sauna. Please note that Gachinko BBQ Lodge Kitakaruizawa does not have a tent sauna.

How can I make the garden brighter?
There is a light near the corner of the BBQ space. Please use it as needed.
Is Wi-Fi available? Where is the password?
Wi-Fi is available in all facilities. The Wi-Fi ID and password are posted on the wall in the living room. If the Wi-Fi network is not detected, please check whether the router is plugged in.
What should I do with garbage?
Please put garbage in the silver garbage box outside. Garbage bags are provided. Please separate cans and bottles from other garbage. Firewood, charcoal, and ash will be cleaned up by us, so please leave them in the fire pit.
Where can I smoke?
Indoor areas are non-smoking. Please smoke outside in the garden.
Which board games are recommended for beginners?
The guide sent after booking includes videos introducing board games that are easy for beginners to enjoy. Please use them for indoor time during your stay.
